Flame Leaf Sumac

The Flame Leaf Sumacs around Austin are just popping!

Rhus lanceolata, also known as Prarie Flame-leaf Sumac, the Texas native has some of Austin's fieriest autumn orange & red foliage. This small tree can grow up to 30 feet tall, but is more likely to stay around 20 feet in our area. They actually blossom white in summertime, and then follow their flowers with thick, conical clusters of dark red berries that are known to make a tasty tea when soaked in water.
Get 'em while they're hot, even if the weather's not!
